Let's get one thing off my chest, Dalida is a good looking lady. She does have a a good enough voice to carry a pop song, and her music video is pretty cool if you ask me. I like the funky and bright colors it has. I love the TV bars affect and the way the music video came together.

I do not love the song, but I am fine with it. Many comments on the video come from chauvinistic pigs who are calling this clip soft core porn. I beg to differ. This is a Lebanese singer who is doing a song in the Gulf Dialect and thus she tends to get gigs to perform in concerts in places like Kuwait.

Nabil Shuail, The Gulf's Finest One Hit Wonder

speaking of enchanting poetry, tune in to Golf Nightingale or as yo know him Nabil Shuail, the chunky singer form Kuwait. Nabil was the first face of Gulf music that made it big in the Arab mainstream. He was carried to every Arab home with the satellite wave that stroke in the 90s. He has one of the finest sense of humors in the biz and it shows in his interviews and various appearances.

His bit hit was Ma Ar'wak "How Wonderful You Are", a light pop song that plays like a poem whee the singer is telling his other half how much in love he is with such a wonderful soul. The song came in the late 90s and it was the romantic song of its time, Arabs were blown away with this new star. To his credit, he has had dozens of other songs prior to that one--I know this because I grew up in the Gulf with his music.

Nabil enjoyed a great deal of fame, but none of his songs has manged to outgrow that one hit of his. Nabil has not been very active--his last album was in 2009. One thing I like about Nabil is his music videos, he does not fall in love, he hires other models to tell a love story where Nabil only provides the audio track of his magical and poetic words.

Review: "The Inevitable Change" Album By Qusai

Qusia might have just figured out how to make an album with a true positive message that speaks to the youth and speaks of their aspirations and frustrations. The word rapper and intellectual should not belong to the sae sentence, but Qusai might have merged the two world with the release of his much celebrated album "The Inevitable Change" an album not made on the cheap, an album in which traditions and heartfelt lyrics are crucial ingredients.

This is an album that will seal the mouths of those who have criticized rap and rappers, because with his lyrics flow and uplifting verses Qusai puts it all together in one album. The album has 12 tracks and offer a verity of songs in both English and Arabic. Qusai seems like a nice guy whose fans are truly in love with him. Those who might not love him cannot help but respect the Saudi rapper who knows that for rap to go mainstream in Arabia, it has to promote old values and things that people like to hear--pan-Arab unity and good virtues.

The album is a huge collaboration between the West and East--do not miss the hard rock bit and other fusions. I can now safely say, that with Qusai making music, the excuse to "I do not listen to Arabic songs" is no longer relevant. Why? Because Qusai can do both languages/styles and you would not tell the difference. For those politically savvy, will cheer the track on what see around us as a result of the Arab Spring--the album does not forget about Palestine--which he rightfully dubs, the Number one issue

Qusia kicks of his album with the verse Peace Be Upon You and then jumps into it. Qusia who has spend his time well in the States perfected (and perhaps improve) on this rebellious art form. But don't panic, the album has its fun parts with fresh beats and dance moments. The album is like an autobiography for Qusai who takes his listeners into a eye-popping journey that started in Saudi Arabia with a layover in America. You will feel that you move form the local mosque, to the souk, into the coffee shop, then into the club without ever getting disoriented or bored.

While thee has been many popular Arab rappers in the past 15 years or so, no one has worked as hard as Qusai has shown. Qusai has a lot of offer which he makes look easy because most of his hard work is behind the scenes. This is one produ rapper who has manged to be different by being proud of what makes him so great--home.

Something Very Unsexy About Gulf Jalsat Music

Jalasat (جلسات وناسة) is a unique form of entertainment in the Gulf. It's a band of brothers sitting in the floor with their instruments and vocalist. They tend of be mi aged men, and it can be called a jamming session where the image does not mater as much as the voice does. One question though:

Why is there are only men in the room? The only females who perform are the vocalist and women tend to watch these things on TV as they either choose not to be present or they might not be able to join in. Jalasat are often hosted in the house of some rich person who hires big names to come jam with his boys.

This time, they have hired Marwa from Tunisia to jam with them. She is even sitting apart from them. I guess who doesn't like a pretty face? My thing is this, those men are probably the same ones who call for strict Islamic law as they preach virtue. I do not think sausages fests have made anything better.

Again, Jalasat is a proud tradition from the people in the Gulf, it does preserves the legacy of their ancestor. The art form took an interesting form when it choose to air on TV, TV required remaking it by putting sexy back in music. Morcan singer Mona Amarcha, Lebanese singers Yara and Diana Haddad are only few of the ladies that broke into this art form.

If You Are Tired Of Arabic Pop Buy The Inevitable Change By Qusai

Arabic pop can feel old sometimes, and the same goes for any kind of popular music. Change is good, and finding something exciting to jam to is priceless. This is about I feel about Qusai, new album "The Inevitable Change" The Saudi rapper who made it huge on Arabs Got Talent.

His stage name is also Don Legend the Kamelion, which makes sense of a TV personality, a rapper and a songwriter who can also be a mean DJ. Qusai was picked by Platinum Records which is based in Dubai and they are releasing his debut album to many--it's really his third.

Qusia is no lightweight, he does have a good brain over his shoulder. Educated in the United States Florida where he has two degrees including an MBA. It's there where he picks his interest in rap and music where he rolled with a number of RB producers. Qusia brought something cool to the rap game. He does have a solid background in both English and Arabic. So when he spits out lines in both languages at the same time, one cannot help but be swoon.

Qusai have hosted a number of TV shows about hip hop and music, he remains active as a TV personalty. He does have a large fan base throughout the Arab world and outside. This might be the upside of having an MBA and a rare talent that many are hungry for.

This will be a good social album with many uplifting messages that youth ought to hear. Perhaps we have the many talents of Qusai to thank for this incredible album.

Nothing Tops Diana Haddad As Much As Diana Does

Lebanese cool care of Arabic pop had a new single out. She did have a really good album earlier this year. And she seems to making a great run for a comeback this year. She might be the number one singer for weddings and big events in the Arab Gulf. She has been calling it home for decades now.

Diana Haddad comes across as the sweet unassuming girl who has a heart of gold. She also can make those spunk pop songs telling guys how it really it. But most of her earlier fans, know her fro her sincere emotions and honey dripping voice. For the past ten years she has focused on Gulf dialect music where the money really is.

This changes last year when Diana recorded, Lebanese, Egyptian and even Iraqi songs, she included them in her album and there you have it, her comeback worked as she manged to tease everybody and give them some of her old feel songs like she used to do it in the late 90s.

I do like the new single which is also in Gulf dialect, with slow musical arrangement.

Balqees Fathi, One Of The Best Thing About Yemen

Yemen is an awesome place with history so deep and heritage so rooted in the land. No other pop star is rooted in the land of Yemen as much as new sensation Balqees Fathi is. She is the daughter of Yemen's most famous composer and singer Fathi Ahmed and she offers so much more than other can afford to. Her voice, and her lovable personality make me think, this is someone who was born to be a star.

Her work has not gone unnoticed, as she was named best young talent by the French fashion magazine L’Officiel at the 2012 L’Officiel Arab Woman Awards held at the St. Regis Saadiyat Island Resort in Abu Dhabi.

She is young yet she is very talented and seems savvy in the business and musical choices she makes. She filmed her latest clip in Lebanon with a Lebanese crew, but the song is in the Gulf Dialect, she is not trying to be cute and sing Lebanese and Egyptian. She is very proud and I know she wants to make it big using only her local Dialect that brought her fame and cemented her status as a leading lady.

The song is about a jealous lover....and the struggle to stay sane. Hollywood got nothing on Balqees, she has those exotic looks, confidence and charm. She knows how to tease the camera and the fans at the same time, she has some dance moves...BUT she does it without disrespecting her conservative upbringing.

Stupid Arab Media Elite Glamourize Bedouin Life

See the video below for Myriam Fares dances in the desert among tents. I am a proud Arab but I cannot take the portrayal of Bedouins in Arab media. They make it look like one hell of lifestyle. Bedouin life is not a choice, it was born out of necessity. The moment, they had money, they abandoned this life style and moved into one of those tall buildings.

Sure, the dreses they use here are nice, but they look like nothing the Badu or Bedouins in the desert would wear. I gues keping it real. This clip was part of a dancer show, the song is a very popular title Ya Saria, an old Arab poetry meme that appears in more than one work. So it took a Lebanese entertainer who vacations in Miamia to tell us how Bedouin really live.

I know that life in the desert is not about glamour, dances and good looking people. I have seen it from up and close. Myriam loves the Gulf money, and thus she had to do something to stand from the pack. She is a talented dancer no doubt and she used to make good choices in songs, but few are listening now.

Two dudes duke it out in a song vying to win the heart of the lady. The song/duet made is big in the Gulf radios, so it now has gotten its a video clip. And they hired a seasoned actress to be the girl of interest. Filmed in Dubai--instead of Morocco for two days

Composer/producer/singer Fayez Al Said composed the music for the duet with Basil Al Aziz and as you can tell he also sings it. Al Wissam composed the lyrics. As for the model, Kuwaiti actress Shahad Al Yaseen filled that position. Basil will be playing a fashion designer and he also happens to love the same lady.
 
The duet will be part of Fayez Al Said,s yet to be released album. Fayez has recorded 24 songs and he is about to pick his favorites. This is not a poem, just a light pop song. The duet is a join production between two production houses.

Nowhere do any of these guys, asks the lady and see if she can make up her mind.

Assala has a good voice and a lovable character with a strong personalty. But she has been in hot water for some time now due to her speaking up her mind. Her stand with the Syrian revolution made her unpopular with the ruling folks in Syria. She has upset the celebrities of Lebanon, and apologized and made nice with her peers. But then all of a sudden a new wave of attacks came against her from Syria super diva Mayada El Hanawy who had harsh words for Assala.

Aside form that, Assalah has a new single and it sounds like something you want. Assalah is doing in in the Gulf dialect. About her lover who thinks of her as a piece of decor, it's a poem. The best line in the song is where she says, I am not a flower flower bouquet that you throw away when the fragrance is gone. She won't allow that....after all just like the song says, I am a human being and have my ups and downs.

Assala does it again and I am pleased to see her bringing the best of her vocals strengths to make one more gem.

Salah Alzadjali Delivers A Hit After Another

The country of Oman never had a pop star, and they could have never imagined having one of their own doing pop songs or any kind of songs at all. But then all of a sudden a young, charismatic and good looking guy started to sing. And then all dreams came true. Salah Alzadjali conquered the hearts of that Gulf nation and moved beyond his songs were embraced by the entire gulf region and they started to dance to his beat.

What makes Salah different is his charm, he comes across as a funny guy an everyday man of sort who as lived a life before and is ready to put it in words. Now that's exciting and refreshing in the Gulf as most put lyrics before beat and simple language, you rarely get a catchy tune.

Salah is not just singer, he also composes some of his songs where he records in Oman at his studio. Salah is unafraid to use everyday language to express his mood, that's one of the reasons he connects with the young and hip. One little secret, Salah does have the look of these popular Bollywood stars so that might bring in the ladies who adore such films.

Kathem Al Saher And His Ladies In HD

He has been called the Caesar of Arab music,a title he hold dear to his heart. This ageless rare talent and super star continues to look at his best. While many people in his age group fade away and gain some wait, wrinkles and grey hair, Kathem counties to rock the young look at his 50s now. And for all we know he still has the same affect on many of the ladies--at least the ones he uses as models for music latest music video.

I have blogged about this music video before, but I now I have the HD copy to get animated about. The plot is simple, a horse carriage with a old man driving it, four dashing ladies and Kathem hitched a ride with them. And that's when the magic starts. I have read somewhere that a physiologist explains Katehm's obsession with hirng gorgeous women in his music video is because he was ignored by them when he was poor and broke. This could be it, but even rich people still like women.  

I do find it interesting that most of the models in the music videos tend to Eastern European or Italian. While, I am not crazy about this song--made for the Gulf and Iraq markets. The music video does not really go well with the song, it has turned it into a fashion show. I like the campsite idea, and the colors of the music video, but the last kiss was uncalled for and made to make Kathem look like a hottie--he might be the hottest grandfather in town.

Some know Saudis to be religious than most people, but in reality is much more complicated to grasp. Take the example of Qusai aka Don Legend the Kamelion, he is a hip singer from the Kingdom. By watching his music video for Yalla, I cannot help but conclude that this guy cannot be from Saudi Arabia, just look at how many female dancers he has with him. Qusai came to fame after his appearance on Arabs Got Talent. Therefore, he filmed his music video in Lebanon.

His style is something of a new age hip hop that mixes both English and Arabic with a flow too fast for m to comprehend. But then comes Farah, the female lead with him who does not disappoint. The song is part of the Qusai's album The Inevitable Change, this is a change you can believe in. At the song has its moments and I think it's change in heart and soul of Arabic music.

The garage dance by those barrels feels expired, but the cinematography doesn't have to. I like the lyrics toward the end asking people to stop being hypocrites. "no shortcuts to your dreams" goes the song. The outfits seem to be picked in one trip the mall and mushed together for this music video. Yes, there's a famous fashion store that gave them the clothes. The graffiti is colorful and the Lebanese dancing troupe allows a frame of reference. In the scene where Qusai flees from the police, the girl tells him to hide in her car and puts him in the driver seat.

Madonna To Auction Off Her Memorabilia In Dubai

Madonna to auction her belongings in Dubai. Why not and the world's sleaziest tax dodgers call it home. Making Dubai a very fine city a capital for white collar criminals and people who lack a culture of their own so they go on and buy themselves one.

Madonna has so many concerts and she does them often, but if you want more of her, there are 50 items that Madonna has wore or used during her reign of world's pop of 3o years. As you can tell, the items are being sold by some American or British company who figured they can make some money in Dubai selling some celebrities trash. Keep in mind Madonna who is a die hard fan of the state of Israel and a supporter of that state will have a concert in Dubai and most concert goers will overlook that little details about this diva's political stands on a state that has brought so much pain to the Arab people, a state that has assassinated people in Dubai itself..

Soccer And Music On Arabs Got Talent

A young Yemeni who knows well to do a thing or two with soccer balls appeared on Arab Got Talent for the second time. He really dazzled them with his flexibility, moves and attitude. I like what he had to offer, Ammar Al Khodiry has confidence and seems to have won some hearts.

The judges who at least two of them do not seem to know what this talent is about as they asked him for new moves. One judge had a great deal of fun watching the moves and the tricks with the soccer ball. I do also enjoy the music they played part of the show...songs from 1999 and 2000 by two charismatic Tunisian singers.

Mansour Zayed, The Gulf Music's Best Hope

Let's break down the makeup of Mansour Zayed, He is young, charming, good looking, and has a warm set of vocals that the artists can mold to fit any song of his. Now, there has been a lot of singers from the Gulf who have made the dialect popular. In my conclusion, Mansour is one of a kind. He has all what it takes.

Let me explain, in the past good singers form the gulf have either been too old, too stiff or not that good looking. And the famous ones and young ones have not manged to make decent songs that would draw in listeners form around the Arab World. Mansour is back with a new single that I am crazy about. Needless to say the music has been composed by Fayez Al Said who has a studio in Dubai and who also insists on being featured on most songs to which he composed the music.

This is a poem that has been turned into a hip song where the 11th hour of romance meets a hopeful soul. Mansour has manged to make a big name for himself in few short years. His concerts click with local residents of the Gulf and foreigners alike. So, the only place I see Mansour is going is up....and for that I am grateful.

Du In Abu Dhabi ! How To Party Without Drinking?

Abu Dhabi never wanted to be known as a party place. But Dubai makes a compelling case. Flash is an entertainment and event booking company, they have been around for four years and help bring high profile names to the city. Now, Flash has a new partner, DU. DU is a stage for live performances. Some of the events Flash have brought to the city involved American and World famous names, Brittney Spears, Beyonce and such caliber.

See the ladies dancing in the music video as the jam to the music, DU wants to bring more events like this as the city's intentional fame is built around party with us, and spend all your money here. I do not drink, but I know many out there do and I am being told that certain concerts and certain sporting events are much better when one had a drink or two.

He is young, handsome, charismatic and fitly rich. This is the career of Dubai native singer Fathel El-Mazroui He is a popular local singer with hits that are well know to his fans. Now comes a new hit of his that gets the music video treatment. This music video will make you regret your life as the rich life of Dubai can shock some Arabs. So do not hate the player, hate the game.

Fathel is a poet whose work is celebrated on many online forums. But poetry is not a new business, music videos are that business. Watch his music video, the music is one of the safest Gulf musics around, the one that makes your move your head. Fathel is not trying to shake up the local music scene, he just wants his lyrics out there in a fashionable way.

Qatar Denies Lebanese Singer Melhim Zain A Visa

The charming Lebanese singer Melhim Zain just got denied entry into Qatar. Melhim has performed many times in Qatar before where he has many fans in that country. Here's here it gets weird, Qatar has granted all his band members visas to Qatar, but they denied the lead singer Melhim a visa.

The reasons for denying Melhim his visa were political. How so?

Melhim is well known for his support to Bashar Al Assad, the Syrian president. Melhim has said so in a number of interviews he has given and you can conclude he is vocal about this support. Now, Qatar hates president Assad and have been leading the fight against him in the Arab League, the United Nation and most recently with arming rebels. Therefore, Melhim's opinion are not too popular with Qatar. Meanwhile Fadel Shaker, the singer who defied Assad gets to live in a nice home in Doha.

Salah Zadjali has a hot single last year, his song was the number one dance son in the Gulf for months, and then it hit a bigger market , and to his credit it was a song that he had to make. Lovely song indeed it's titled 'Ayyar. But now he is doubling down and doing songs in the open credit for movies.

His next song is bluesy. That's always a safe choice, but keep on mind, Salah comes form a place not well known for star making. He is Omani! And he makes the switch from happy and pop songs that makes you want to move, into a darker genera. I happen to see his earlier song come to play in one party where a lot of young Gulfie men were present. Not one of them was left away from the dance floor....and they make it rain with money and energy.

So if you wanted a darker song but still see a guy who can bring in the sunshine, tune in.
