Rahim, WAMA, Fouad, And ZeeZee Adel Songs Released For Ramadan 2012

Between TV dramas and songs made just for those shows, and the few singers who find spirituality through music in this holy month, I include few songs that were just released few hours ago in usher in the month of fasting. Needless to say these songs tend to come from Egypt as the Lebanese singes tend either don't care enough about Ramadan or to be non Muslims--which is cool too.

Ramadan is a huge deal in Egypt, so let's see how those songs celebrate the month...

While many of those songs are made for TV shows and have little to do with the actual month, ZeeZee Adel who is due for a comeback released a Ramadan worthy song, a prayer asking the Lord for things to world out for her in her life. Naturally speaking the video is loaded with nature and serious notes. This is ZeeZee's first song in about three years.

Mohammed Fouad comes back and recorded this song for what might be this Ramadan's  biggest sho with Ahmed Sakka.

Listen To Asalah New Album Samples / سمبلات البوم أصالة شخصية عنيدة

Asalah is back even though she has not gong anywhere, but she is back. It has some at least three years since Asalah release a new pop album that was not in the Gulf Dialect. She is back in romance and with bright music that will remind us of this once larger than life super star.

I am detecting a new approach by team Asalah, an effort to try to revive the starlet's brand. The music is perfect for a makeover, we do not know when the album would be released, but I think it might be out by the end of Ramadan. The album is about love and the lack of it, but there is always room to get advise from mother Asalah who has loved and hated too.

The album has 10 tracks and we have a sampling of each of those tracks. The album's title might be provocative and might be a response to her critics....the album goes by the name "A Stubborn Personality" She has received a lot of heat for her vocal support for the revolution at home.

I see a lot of names--mainly Egyptian musicians who have collaborated on this album. The album might lack one theme, but just like the starlet behind it, she is one with many opinions and voices.

البوم ابو الليف "سوبر ليفه " - خليك فى النور يا امور "Super Leefa" From The Guy Who Needs A Shower

When Ayman Bahjat Qamar--a household name in Egyptian music wants to take a break form writing the same old songs---I love you, and your eyes have magic, he takes the time to write the lyrics for this album. Ayman loves funky and wacky Egyptian comedic singer known as Abo Leefa or Nadir Abu El Nour. He made a big success of him in their 2012 collaboration and they are back at it again for a sequel.

This time they have more money, more support and most of all bigger market. The music market in Egypt is hungry for this album as everything seems so serious and so gloomy. Humor is in order and Abu Leefa knows how to humor us while he delivers one line after another. Making many of his songs superstitious about bad spirits and people while jinx everything.

The "Super Leefa" features better music and higher production value, a variety of musical styles form the old Oriental beat to the hip hop style. Abu El Leef did mange to be super secretive about his album, and when it was announced it was a treat no one saw coming. Aside form the humor, there are songs that offer wisdom about this life and people in it. I like his title song where he sounds like a 1930 singer tackling a current day issue--secret marriages.

Before he was singer Abu El Leef was broke and did a number of odd jobs so you know he has a lot ob bitter stories to tell about his family who did not come to his help, but when he made it big, they all lined up--think of those rapper who rap about such matters. He has another song about those who attack the arts and he is taking them to task.

Nothing Tops Diana Haddad As Much As Diana Does

Lebanese cool care of Arabic pop had a new single out. She did have a really good album earlier this year. And she seems to making a great run for a comeback this year. She might be the number one singer for weddings and big events in the Arab Gulf. She has been calling it home for decades now.

Diana Haddad comes across as the sweet unassuming girl who has a heart of gold. She also can make those spunk pop songs telling guys how it really it. But most of her earlier fans, know her fro her sincere emotions and honey dripping voice. For the past ten years she has focused on Gulf dialect music where the money really is.

This changes last year when Diana recorded, Lebanese, Egyptian and even Iraqi songs, she included them in her album and there you have it, her comeback worked as she manged to tease everybody and give them some of her old feel songs like she used to do it in the late 90s.

I do like the new single which is also in Gulf dialect, with slow musical arrangement.

Sofia Al Marikh 2012 Album ألبوم صوفيا مريخ - تهواك

Call her the butterfly of Arabic pop, she is certainly one of the better known voices in Morocco. Sofia is one of those super sensitive souls who manes to recreate all those sensitivities though her voice and her music. With her sweet and gooey style, the sky is the limit. Sofia came to fame when she appeared on Star academy and sang in three languages so beautifully.

So her new album is out, and she is doing half English songs and half Arabic ones, they are very romantic songs and she seems to have made all the right calls. This time she comes back with the help of Jermaine Jackson. This is a dreamy album the kind every girl is raised believing in. Just believe in imagination and romance and remember good things happen to those who take a chance. If the duets on this album do not move you from the inside, I do not know if anything else can. Sofia has three duets, and the are AMAZING

Sofia's talented was noticed beyond the Arab world which explains her duo with Jermaine Jackson, brother of Michael Jackson, dedicated for Barry White. Together they collaborated on "My First, My Last, My Everything". The song is in the new album. I just think it was marketed poorly. The cover songs in the album are worthy of this songstress' stunning career.

Update: according to one comment on the blog, this is not an official release album, but an assortment curated by a fan.

Marwan Khoury Back On The Romance Saddle

This is Marwan Khoury's redemption. Call it his first single in two years. But this is not just a single, this is Marwan being all romantic and cuddly. He has always sounded like the romantic, but he rarely looked that part. Now comes a makeover where he is clean shaves, got those dreamy eyes and a blonde lady showering him with love.

But wait, there's more...his brother is directing him. The dude dances, seems upbeat and ready for a new phase. The song is about a relationship that has lost its steam, the couple have forgotten their early promises to be always fun and always in love. Communication is key, it's amazing to see a guy finally getting that. The lyrics are second to none in terms of meanings.

Keep in mind Marwan Khoury is one shy entertainer, he does not like to be filmed being intimate. But it seems that his brother manged to persuade him. This has been a really good song to take in, I am sure the music video will be worth the wait.

Safaa Abou El Seoud Comes Out Of The Dark

There was once an Egyptian actress in the 80s that made movies and showed a lot of skin in addition to her acting and singing talent. She was the face that every casting director wanted in his movies, because she used to bring people to cinema houses. Then something happened in the late 90s and she married a wealthy Saudi sheikh. That sheikh was the man behind the pioneering satellite TV ART.

That actress is Egyptian Safaa Abou El Seoud who had her own talk show on the network. But then things started to get ugly as rumors have surfaced her jealous husband bought all the original fims she made from the state TV in Egypt and then he has these movies trashed. Many in Egypt were enraged about that one and I am not sure if it was true, but it's not a far fetched scenario.

Forward to 2012, there's a new Egypt and Safa wanted to be part of it, she just released a song without appearing in the music video. Her song is about the Egyptian youth boys and girls and what they can do for their motherland. The song made me think how much we really miss the singing of Safaa, she had this party voice that can make you really happy. After all she still have the best Eid song that we play every Eid Holiday. This is a proud song about the people of Egypt and the new democracy.

Vivian Azar and Melhim Zain Drama Over Song

Business comes first, it even comes before do gooders. Melhim Zain and Vivian Azar. It's a song meant to communicate a message to the youth. The team wanted them to stand united, work hard and keep away from all the harmful stuff. It's a social song that asks the Lebanese youth to bring their A game.

Word got out that Rotana, the label under which Melhim Zain sings is not too please with his appearance as they think won't help his stardom. Anyhow, here's the video for what really happened and how this song came about. In a nutshell, the song was recorded, but things got funny when the team wanted to shoot a music video. Melhim agreed, but then later called in and asked to postpone his shoot.

Vivian felt that Melhim is backing out or that he does not want to film with her. Vivian stated that she was the one who has nominated Melhim for the song. I think it's all about business, Melhim did not want the song to air on radio, he did not want to be over exposed. So the song will be local song and stay this---hard to do with the internet age. In other news, Melhim was troubled by the leak of some of the songs he is recording for his big comeback album.

Diana Hadad - Wedi 7aki ديانا حداد ودي حكي 2012

Diana Haddad does not want to dance anymore, but she is not giving up on cool as of yet. Staging her comeback two years ago and releasing a good album that offers a variety of songs helped her do just that. But the Lebanese and citizen of the United Arab Emirates Diana is dabbling into Iraqi music as she released a music video for that song.

Filmed in Dubai with a local director who has a world class talent--Nahla Al Fahid. It's an urban dance setting straight form the hood, where girls get kicked out for wanting to dance, so with the help of youthful looking Diana they win back their house but not until they battle in the dance.

Diana DJs the dance and looks gorgeous in her bright colored jacket. Diana has few looks in the music video, some did not approve of the music video--Diana has stated she is fine with that. But I do think, this is part of Diana's hip makeover, she has a happy dance song, she has to look the part.
