Best Of Walid Tawfik البوم افضل ما غنا وليد توفيق

Turn back the clock to the 80s, 90s and the early 00s and you will find a legend for those times. Lebanese singer and composer Walid Tawfik is that legend. Few can hardly remember why they liked him, but most know him and know that he is a has been. This is not accurate entirely. Walid made Lebanese songs popular in both Egypt and the Gulf--Egypt has always been is a tough market to break into.

I like Walid Tawfik, he was the cool kid who acted in movies but also made good music that we all remember well. It's enough for him to be the guy who has the classic birthday song with his voice. But he has also other hits, and he has let us know by remixing them and doing covers of his own songs with a new twist. But Walid also was one of the first Lebanese singers to sing in three Arabic Dialects--Lebanese, Egyptian and Gulf.

In fairness, the album doe snot have all of his hits, just the hits Rotana has produced for him. Which means you got none of the old good stuff like "Tiggy Ni'esim Al Amar", "Ya Leel"...etc. I would say the album has at least three decent songs by Walid, but none of the good stuff that you and your mom have come to love.

So, we do not forget, here's an album that has his best hits to date. Buy the album where you can. One thing to remember....Walid was the guy who made old school musit a bit hip and a bit faster. He does have Tarab talent, but his pop also lives on in our collective memory.

Egypt's Taxi Driver Will Love Mohammed Abd Elmonim 2012 Album

Mohammed Abd Elmonim is a homeboy and he is the guy you would want to appear in your movie if your movie has a block party and belly dancer. This young composer and charming singer knows how to kick off a street party. In his title song he swears by the name of the Lord about how excited he is about this girl.

Mohammed might be the next best thing to happen to this Sha'abi music or as it has now been called festivals. Saad Al Soghyar is getting too old for this and Mohammed seems to be a protegee of that singer as he has appeared along his side in a recent movie. So if you are tourist in Egypt, you might want to get familiar with such taste of music because I know your cabbies will be playing it on your ride.

God and women is how poor people live, Mohammed brings the best of both worlds and put it all on a nice soundtrack for everyone to see and hear. The good news is as follows, Abd Elmonim is a decent looking guy--unlike most of singers in the Sh'abi circles. So, here is his new album, I dub it as the party album where we now have a physical proof how poor people like to party it up.

So if you are a guy you would love the songs, and if your a women whose sole concern is men interest and looking good, you will also like this song. But if you want more out of life, this song might not be meant for you.

REVIEW: The Red Rose Album By Samo البوم سامو زين - الورد الاحمر

The flirtatious album of the year has arrived and it has the signature of Syria's biggest pop star Samo Zaen. Samo is a household in Egypt--the biggest music market where most singers are now based. Unlike so many others, Samo has stayed in Egypt and maybe the fact that Syria seems to been fire has something to do with that.

The all tracks give Samo's fans plenty to smile about, as they will dance, they will romance, and they will cry. Samo knows well how to transition from one note to another without cheapening the experience. Changing mood in one album is important to appeal to more people.

I would buy this album and I ask you to do so....this one will be around for some time. Samo leads the way now in releasing an album in a critical time politically and so close to Ramadan. I wish one day, I can see Samo in a live concert, I am sure he will be a treat.

01 - Beta7lawy, club mix and tons of computer affects the right amount of excitement
02 - 3ady, Samo like you know him before, the guy you want to party with! Good
03 - El Ward El A7mar, the album's gem, I love this track and how it fuses music
04 - 7elemt Beeky, the necessary dramatic song, the lonely yet romantic will cheer
05 - 7abiby W Ana Samo Zaen on steroid, I mean energy drink. An average pop song
06 - Mesta2tel, amorous song people in love would appreciate this expressive song
07 - Men 3eneya, another entertaining pop song that has dull music, the lyrics are cool though
08 - Faris A7lemek, guy tells a girl he wants to be all she wants him to be, dreamy track with gooey music
09 - Ana Mosta3ad, I like the instruments on this track. Samo might have another song where to turn into a music video, a dramatic song with a big heart and regrets.
10 - Beta7lawy ( Remix ), a remix of a good song even made more club friendly, I would drive a stolen car to this music, but for now it's a good song to operate a heavy machinery to.
11 - 7elemt Beeky ( Remix ) this one is made again for yet another club experience, I like the foreign language and the Euro feel.

Khaled El Tayeb Soltan Zamany 2012 Album

Here's an album that one guy had to make, and an album that not many of us will get to hear. I say give it a chance. I know I liked the title song, it does have a lot of cool beats, Greek and Turkish melodies. But Khaled El Tayeb does have a good voice, the kind less educated people can relate to.

This is a good summer album for guys to play in their car, on the beach or right after they have finished their high school exams.

11 track of pop songs to cool your summer and bring you way some dance energy. This is an album that seems to want to do one thing, launch the career of a singer at home in Egypt so that he can get working gigs

Review And Covers Of Magda El Roumi "Ghazal" 2012 Album

Magida El Roumi just took the best thing about Western music and made is purely Arabic. By doing so even the people who resent or indifferent to Arabic music are rendered helpless in the power of such addictive album that offers plenty of wow moments! Keep on mind Magida composed many of the songs for this album.

Magida does not make pop music, she makes modern day classics that will be kicking around our world for some time, she makes music that the 80 year old can enjoy and the 20 year can claim refined credit for knowing. As those songs age, so does our love and appreciation to each one of them.

Magida has always been known by many names, in my book I just added another title for this diva, a hit-maker. Let's review her 2012 album that took almost seven years to produce.

01 W Btetghayar El-Da'aye'. an epic song that might as well be the most perfect rendition of classical Arabic music. the lyrics are nothing short of fresh and magical. Magida hits all the right notes and leaves no stone  unturned to bring out this intoxicating gem.

02 Wa'adtouka, the most intimate song on this track, a sweet and creamy song so smooth coming from a woman who has helped many of us define love. The lyrics are the creation of a poet and the song is performed by someone who can make anything into a gorgeous tale. Kathem Al Saher crafted the music to tjhis track--no one has sang more peoms for Nizar than this man.

03 Bass Ellak Habibi, a confession from a woman are hard to come by, and when they come the world of someone gets rocked. How about Magida doing the same thing for each one of us at the same time? Do not take my word, tune in and you will understand why this song is a masterpiece. Think of the music they play at the Oscars, this one should give the Oscars producers an idea about making good music better.

04 Metghayar W Mhayarni, the coolest song on the album, feel free to dance to this captivating jazz that will get your hear racing. Yes, it's like a time machine where we are taken on a ride to the 20s and the good times that were made then. A clear winner where all the right elements came together. A surprise hit that was composed by Abdel El Rab Idris, a composer know for very tradition Arabic music makes the most foreing sounding Arabic melody.

05 El-Alam Elna, the ballroom dance scenes are always glamours, and the music to which people dance helps create such an emotional experience where good music is in a perfect harmony with the happy. Magida sounds so capable of flexing her vocal muscles to transcend with this song and create joy for the world. You need to make time and enjoy this song, it's like a therapy to one's soul

06 Ablani Hayk,  this is a song that Magida have become known for, the dreamy girl who sees his man as the perfect and most handsome on this planet. Love the lyrics and the imagery we almost can touch, butterflies and red roses

07 Al-Tayrou Taraban Yougharidou, a song both adults and kids would appreciate, something you can sing to your kids and also your loved one. This is the music you play when the princess walks down the sitars or the aisle and all eyes will be on her. The song also flirts with the subject of the song, a love the creative style in music and simple yet fitting lyrics.  And by the way, the spring just found it's official anthem.

08 Salawna, a duet from a time other than our time, sounds like something you would hear in Paris or NY Jazz clubs in the 20s where music is the attraction, but where a good vocalists can seal the deal. I love the way the song changes pace with highs and lows. I do not know how team Magida manged to give us a snapshot of a time where imagination was not so expensive. Both singers brings a flavor to this track that helps make so accessible. Composed by her own father and  with lyrics put forth by the Rahbani brothers.

09 La Ma T'illi Habbayna, the music sounds very East, a funny song where a woman tells a man that he is delusional, a cute song with create production and music that pumps your heart. It's made for concerts mean to bring the energy up a bit. I am a fan of such songs, and I like a proud woman who can stand up and school a man. Magida moves into a happy mood in a heartbeat and manages to capitalize on her energy and channel all of that to the listener.

10 Ala Albi Malak, this sounds like an Egyptian baladi melody, (the kind you can belly dance to) it feels like the first song one hears from Magia, she made this kind of song sin the 80s and we were fond of them. Magida outdoes herself again and channels the high moment sin her career and brings them back 30 years later with might and passion. I like the mini stories in the song, Magida is made for ballads. Not to forget the cleave play on words in Malak (owner) and Malak (angel)

11 La Ma Rah Ez'al A'chi, it does not feel like an Arabic song, the music sounds a bit European to my ears, a lot darker than other songs. It does resembles some of Fayrouz's songs which is always good. It might be a song about a modern day prophet who wanted to spread the good word--he cannot give up and he cannot be broken. I have to listen to it few times to get a good grip on it. Marwan Khoury composed the music and it feels like he has left his comfort zone to come up with something fresh.

12 Law Ta'ref, another confessional song where the female cannot speak her mind and confess her love because if she did, she would undervalue herself. This is the mature side of Magida where real life experiences come to play. he selfish and nothing worries him, he is in love with himself making him self satisfied. I think the best part of the song is how Madiga moves from the angry frustrated lady to the sweet and lowdown one

13 Bladi Ana, Things are looking scary in some parts and promising in others. It's a song for Lebanon with some Spanish flavor (some foreign language too, I think Italian) Lebanon is a country of love says Magida, no place for hatred. There's a subtle message where some voices in Lebanon call for looking out for the the interests of some Arab nation at the expense of the people of the land.

14. Nashid El-Shohada, You cannot skip the Arab Spring and Lebanon at the moment, Magida dedicates a song to all the fallen men and women which fought for freedom all across the Arab world. It's a song she sends to the families of such heroes. Magida takes no sides, she just urges everyone to find ways to make peace. I welcome the song and the very fine balance Magia has to keep. After all she is a star that almost all of us agree to honor and respect, yet the uprising in the Arab world have many voices. As a song, you might get shivers when the chorus and Magida voices meet.

Note on album cover ماجدة الرومي كفرات البوم, Magida El Roumi came from a proud home where her father was a well known composer Halim El Roumi, it's only fair for her to boast about the talented home she comes form.

ماجدة الرومي وعدتك Majida El Roumi 2012

Exclusive: To The Most Coveted Album, Magida El Roumi Ghazal 2012

This time around Magida is a poet--she wrote the lyrics for most of her song on the album album, The ones she did not compose, she took from Nizar Qabbani who can do little wrong. then she hired the best and most talented composers--who only work for themselves. Lastly she got the music doctor of Lebanon to oversee the entire album, what she got is a gem. The album is titled Ghazal, teasing or flirting.

You may also know her as Majida el Roumy, but we all know her as a musical genius who always challenges others who making them do better. The album makes you a lot more classier and a lot more refined by just owning it....Her dad who was an accomplished musician would have been proud.

The album has made it to Egypt now and to the rest of the Arab world so, go stand in line and get your copy. This album will be around for some time and many of us will be talking about it. I love the liver orchestra and accompanying this legendary Lebanese yet proud Arab diva.

With this album Majida tell those half baked talents that they have a long way to go and that there's room for good music. download the album on iTunes if you cannot secure a hard copy

Review: Elissa 2012 Album Cover البوم اليسا - أسعد واحدة 2012

(Click on the picture to make it larger)

Aside from that, Elissa made a good album, it gives good and fresh lyrics. Musically it does not do much with the exception of "Haylef W Yerga3ly", "Law A2olak", "As3ad Wa7da". Those are all exciting songs that have a happy tone--something Elissa has not done well in. Aslo such songs will help beef up Elissa's concert presence. Then we see a whole new side of Elissa in at least three other songs, "Motfa'la" where she is hopeful and just a real girl with imperfections. And she doubles down in the super awesome lover who would come to rescue her man in "2alby Hases Feek". In "Kre7tak Ana" Guys won't like it too much, but the nice boys will enjoy it, it  serves as a lesson in what not to do.

"Sa'at" is a tragicaaly good song about our expectations and how life is different than we plan...this might be the most realistic song in the album, that serves as a wake up call to the dreamy among us....sometimes you have to improvise. This song causes so much pain if you were to hear it and reflect on past experiences. Elissa had to get in a corner and reflect on her life to bring out this masterpiece.

"Ro7tolo" might be the best vehicle for all those Elissa's emotions about true love where she stands by her man when he is down. It plays like a declaration of rights that those who are in a relationship should learn from. The song is about loyalty and being there for better or worse. It's like hearing the inner thought of a very romantic soul who puts her hurts aside to come to the rescue of her love. Whoever wrote this song deserves a shout out, no way a guy cane come up and express such this complex emotions.

The two cover songs are good, Elissa has performed them before on TV and in concerts which shows her bias toward the two female stars she is paying a tribute to. Salwa Qatrib's "2aloly al-Aid" is a very popular choice from a singer that left a gap in many hearts. "Lola Al-Malama" this song was the reason the album was not released in Egypt right away due to copy right issues that now have been resolved. A good cover with a proper modern twist, I am sure if the late Warda was still with us, she would give her the nod.

The more you listen to this album, the more familiar it feels and the better the songs start to sound. Some songs I had to listen to for three times to start enjoying.

Elissa's 2012 album was relased officially today in Egypt, and minutes later the original CD and its cover work have reached the internet. It's a sad saga to see a well made album gets leaked and losses money. But no one stole the album, someone in the company leaked it....there are always disagreements and fights among people in the business.

Let's talk about the cover

Per definition an album cover is the front of the packaging of a commercially released audio recording product, or album. This is the front-facing panel of a CD package, and, increasingly, the primary image accompanying a digital download of the album, or of its individual tracks. In addition, this also serves as part of the protective sleeve. Not to forget the greater purpose a CD cover serves, marketing!

But like an amazing album cover can sell an album. If the album cover looks cool, you might just pick up the album. I know this happened to me at least once before.I know people who do not speak the language and if they like an album's cover they are most likely to give it a listen.

Elissa knows this very well and since she tends to make an album once every two years, it's important to have worthy covers that will last for this period. Other stars do too, but most Arabic music albums are focused on the star, not the music or the experience the album offers.

I know this, Elissa does a theme for her photo shoots, it was Alice in Wonderland three years ago, now they went to Turkey to come up with some fresh images and themes. What do you guys think of the images on the album? I think they look good and tend to be safe for Elissa, but also cements her status as a women who is out of this world as she does not live ion this earth or share the worries the rest of us have to deal with. I do not necessarily see a themes in the photographs, but I do like the behind the scenes pictures from the Turkey shoot.

Elissa - sa3at 2012

P.S. Whoever translated the songs into English, should get another job, the translation into English is horrible.
P.S.2 Will someone tell team Elissa to unblock us form Hot Arabic Music twitter?

LEAKED: Elissa 2012 Album حصريا البوم اليسا - اسعد واحدة

Update: This blog will not publicize links for illegal downloads. The entire Album is online now, but it will be released officially withing 48 hours.

Elissa is ready to tell all her rivals in the pop/romance business that they got nothing on her. Too bad her album just got leaded to the internet, a week before its official release date. Rotana needs to ask who is behind this leak and put them in jail. This leak will cause millions of dollars in lost revenue.

Elissa's album is one of those things that last much, much longer and, though they are well-suited for a holiday that celebrates romance, can be enjoyed anytime of the year without chipped teeth, food poisoning or speculations by friends and family over your mental and emotional health. Love might not be easy, but it is simple. The album does features two cover songs one from Salwa Qatrib, and another form Warda, both are late but their music lives on. So that leaves us with 12 fresh and original tracks.

This album is most closely associated with the ephemera of early romances, the jokes, the awkwardly endearing conversations, the failed homemade meals and movies and concerts largely spent judging the timing or appropriateness of holding hands. Rather, Feels articulates them; perfectly, actually. Whether it’s the giddiness and gushing positivity of early love in tracks like “Fi Ouyounak” and “Moutafa2La,” or the slow moments of perfect intimacy that require neither conversation nor event in “Albi Hasis Fik ” and “Rohtelo ,”

Thus team Elissa manages to capture and channel the energy and sentiment of these moments without abstraction and re-present them in aural technicolor. The title of this album might infuriate many who have found love to be anything but simple, yet, nevertheless, Elissa manages to articulate oh, so perfectly how the sentiments of a healthy romance can, and tend to be, projected onto everyone and everything as well. Romance, as typified by Valentine’s Day’s presents and chats that can make everything seem colorful and beautiful despite the gray skies, blackened snow, leafless trees and browned lawns of wintertime.

Not all of the tracks are idyllic; in fact, some tracks, like “Kerehtak Ana ,” address romantic misunderstanding, detachment and forgiveness with an earnestness seldom seen in this century. Yet, points where the album dips in tone and subject are balanced out by the places where it ascends, even if those places have a vulnerable innocence to them. All in all, what makes As'ad Wa'hda succeed so perfectly as a romance album is what it communicates so thoroughly: Romance isn't simply about the sweet, or the bittersweet; rather, it is about sweetness despite bitterness and finding a way to balance fantasy with disappointment. That’s a heavy romantic message to be certain, but one that rings true like a wedding bell.

Ultimately few albums capture the pace and air of a waxing romance quite like Elissa does again in her 2012 seventh release As'ad Wa'hda. From the first track, “ Fi Ouyounak,” to the last track “ Lola El Malama,” Elissa manages to span the spectrum of romance, from the ethereal sun-dazed heights that exist outside time to the moments of want and wait that creep slower than a minute-hand in idle revolution.

Mohamed Kamal Turns His Back البوم محمد كمال - وحشت قلبى

He did not exactly turn his back on music, but in his album cover he is doing just that. Check out Egypt's cool kid of pop. The vocals leave something to be desired as the singer seems to be hiding behind a wholesale of computer affects. This is a good pop album, but there is little originality in it. Mohamed sounds like a watered down version of Mohamed Foad.

Offering a number of songs with different styles and energy reaches out to more people, but it fails to cement in a certain demographic to make them loyal fans. Kamal is a local singer with a fellowship in Egypt and beyond. What he lacks is hard to make up for, good looks are important. In the meantime, there you will find something for you, give this record a spin.

Haifa MJK MP3 Review And CD Cover

By Blog Friend Stephanie K
After quite a successful marketing barrage by Rotana on everything from traditional social media outlets like Facebook and Twitter to YouTube, Haifa’s album MJK is now enjoying the top spot on the iTunes world charts and it has only been available for half a day so far. Sometimes things like this, especially in the pop genre, can be overhyped. I can honestly say that this album fully deserves to be numero uno. Not to mention, the album color showing that Haifa does indeed age like a fine wine.
Ezzay Ansak (Mat2olish) is a strong start and really sets the tone for the rest of this album. I’m thinking dance party/some fierce workout music. Immediately noticeable is the production value. The second song, the title track, continues with a similar, but different enough club type beat while bringing the tempo down a bit. Bayza brings it down even more but carries a catchy baseline. It is a breath of fresh air to hear electric guitar featured so much in this way in Arabic music, but without being heavy like a rock song.
My personal favorite is Sama’ani, (((Make Me Hear-right??). A song like this has the potential to be successful on American charts as well, with a pulsing crescendo of a club beat reminiscent of the ever-popular Rihanna. Kobba is the most successful individual track on the album at the moment as far as sales along with being one of the most chill on the entire album.
As a whole, it is definitely a break away from more traditional Arab instrumentation even in the pop world, being mostly mixed with Euro-style beats. Those listeners out there who remain pure to those things probably aren’t Haifa fans anyway. But some of the final tracks (like Baddi Chouf B’ainak Hob) do have a touch of violin and the final track is a kind of throwback to more familiar Haifa songs. Overall, it is a great album with no filler tracks, made really well with a broad range of appeal. Album of the summer, for sure. If you haven’t listened to it yet, you’re missing out!
